Ah....games.....

Ah....a day off work, public holiday honestly I dont like them that much, only mean I eaither stay at home doing nothing or going out and spend cash....I did the latter....I bought a PS2, which one you ask? the thin one ARRRRR, I thought in the long run it'd be better for me since I wouldn't be as bored the next time I have to be at home, besides what's a gamer without a gaming console? it was a hard choice between that and a DS but being in Indonesia PS 2 games are actually cheaper for some reason *wink* *wink* so that was pretty much the deciding factor. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have as much time as I did wehn I was still a student which is a good thing in a way since now I can't abuse the machine as much but I should be able to keep myself in the game.

Bloody Monday....

I got into the office about 15 minutes later than usual. It' 7:45 now and no one's here yet, granted that half of my co-workers won't be here today since tomorrow is a public holiday and since yesterday was Sunday most people opted not to come today, me I'm just crazy. Anyway, as I got into the office the things I noticed are, one, the rat trap is still there and no rat on it so my guess is the rat's still running around my office, crap. Second, as I was about to make my tea, I noticed everything seems to be in place, sugar, tea, and cream except for the water.....how the hell am I supposed to make tea without water? so here I am sitting on my chair keeping an eye out for that rat with a mug of powdered cream woth sugar and a tea bag with no water in it. and now It's only 7:55 AM

Ah finally

hey guess what? Tea is here!! finally and about time too...

later than usual.....and no tea

I left for work at my regular time (around 6:30 am) and arrived an hour later than usual, I'm guessing last night's rain has something to do with but the disfunctional traffic light near my house is definitely a major factor there, along with crazy drivers and loco bikers...

Now I'm in my office, tea is still empty and the wifi is still not on yet, I'm not happy.

Don't know why there's no sun up in the sky

I told you it was going to be one hell of a day, after all that comotion my office was flooded. It rained very heavily this evening with strong winds, I mean really strong winds and having your office bellow ground floor is not a good thing when it rains heavily, good thing it was near 5pm so I didnt have to sit in the office for long.

gone shrimping

Finally, 4 hours after its supposed to be connected the wifi is finally on, now I can start casting my net.

*grumble* *grumble*

Heavy rain, no tea and no Wifi, and parents are calling about offer letters and accomodations this is going to be one hell of a day.

I guess I have to hold off shrimp fishing for another day since I can't cast a net.

No representation without tax

"No tax without representation", anyone who have some knowledge of American history should be familiar with this phrase, it is in fact one of the main reason why the United states of America exists now, they fought against the British not because they refuse to pay taxes but the were considered "British" citizens yet were not represented in the British parliament and still they have to pay taxes.

However as time goes on, in a different country, many years later, the issue is reversed where the so called citizens and certain businesses with sufficient financial capability refuses to pay taxes yet still demand services from the state, some in fact demand "special consideration" regarding payment of taxes. In this case the state should be able to refuses such individuals the basic rights of a citizen such as voting rights, civil and military protection and other public services that are maintained by taxpayers.

However the citizen/resident should also have the right to refuse to pay taxes if, and only if the government, who are responsible to and payed by taxpayers, is not acting in the best interest of its citizens.

Responsible government can only be achieved through responsible citizens
OK, I've finished my tea and the day hasn't really started yet.....that's odd....

The fresh smell of smog

Ah, another working day, yesterday I found a job opening in Melbourne University, it's got decent pay and not so far from where I lived, now I'm kicking myself for not applying for an Australian permanent residency but that was yesterday now is today, and as always I start my day by making myself a mug of milk tea (milk first then tea) but today I found out that the office ran out of milk/cream and no one else is here yet so I guess I'll just settle with tea sans milk.

Now I wait for the day to really start.

バカ人間は大嫌い!

In my line of work I deal with various types of people, dumb, clueless, smart, confused, annoying, cheerful and then some. The majority of them being teenagers and their parents, what I find interesting is the parents who wants to send their sons and daughters, who are under 18, overseas to study in university but still not being able to treat them as an adult individual, most of the parents I've dealt with wants a special treatment for their child, most people find this natural I find it annoying.

They have to learn that they can't have the best of both worlds, I can't guarantee that these children will be with the "right" crowd nor can I guarantee what they study will be useful in their future jobs. When it comes to advising teenagers about what they want to do I tend to ignore the parents because they're not going to live the child's life. My job is to counsel the students about their options and see they get to study where they want and what they want.

Parents may think they know what's best for their children but it's the children who have the right to decide what they want to do.

7 Figure salary

Saying you earn a 7 figure salary per month (local currency) just doesn't feel the same when you live in a backwater country where your regular groceries cost about 300k-500k in average.

Going to the office on a Saturday

Some people say it's part of the job, others say it's to improve productivity, I say it's bull crap. Having to come to the office to attend a company "productivity workshop" on a saturday will only be wasting the employees well deserved brake and it certainly won't increase work productivity. Making employees sit and listen to one or two people talking at length about "productivity" is not a good way to boost office morale. The only reason why everyone will come to such things is because they're either well compensated for the attendance or afraid to be issued a warning, gets a pay cut, or loose their jobs for not attending, my proof, if such activities are not made compulsory without a reasonable compensation NOBODY will come, particularly because it's a Weekend and no, cheap door prizes will not increase employee enthusiasm to attend.

Making employees unhappy is the worst thing ANY company can ever do, we may need the job but they won't run without us wanting to do our jobs, only second to making an employee with a psychotic homicidal tendency unhappy about the working condition.

Like Gonzales

After using the free wireless connection for more than a week I realized how fast the connection actually is, it's like having broadband back but with half the regular speed, not that fast but fast enough for me to do what I "need" to do in the office.

The only catch is I have to start using it early before everyone else arrives.

Time to play the waiting game again

Ah yes it's come to that time again, the possible release date of another game console, the Nintendo revolution to be exact, while I am enthausiastic about the console itself actually buying one for myself is another matter (something to do with financial capacity). While previews of it have been widely released I can't wait to see what it can really offer the gaming community aside from industry's "new exciting gameplay" and "better graphics".

Tiny little corner of joy

Hey hey hey! I found a hotspot in a small corner in my office but with a very weak signal. Oh well at least it's faster than the actual wired office connection.

Ok, now this is awkward, I got a free wireless connection in the office but don't really feel like browsing anything....
